We are proud to announce that the Open Air Museum of Lithuania, as a member of the European Heritage Volunteers network, has become the winner of the 2025 European Heritage / Europa Nostra Award in the category “Education, Training and Skills”!

Since 2022, the Open Air Museum of Lithuania has been a member of the European Heritage Volunteers network. Volunteers from more than thirty countries have contributed to the construction of an accurate reconstruction of a forge on the museum’s territory, the restoration of traditional wooden pavilions, and the erection of characteristic wooden fences. In 2025, the work continues with a focus on the revival of traditional wood painting techniques.

This prestigious award recognizes meaningful, international volunteering activities that foster cultural heritage and pass on traditional crafts to the new generation.

Now you can help win the People’s Choice Award too!

Until 12 September 2025, we invite you to vote for the European Heritage Volunteers Network and thus support the involvement of the younger generation in the preservation of cultural heritage.
