Museum’s Lithuania Minor Sector, Vabalai Homestead
In 2025, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of the first collection of Lithuanian folk songs – in 1825, Liudvikas Rėza published “Dainos, oder Littauische Volkslieder”, and this year has been declared the Year of Lithuanian Folk Songs!
On that occasion, the most beautiful songs collected by L. Rėza and brothers Antanas and Jonas Juškai – which are still loved and cherished by the folklore community – will be performed at the Vabalai Homestead in Lithuania Minor sector. The Kaunas Cultural Center folklore ensemble GADULA (led by Andrius Morkūnas) will perform a concert.
After the concert:
– we will invite you to drink traditional coffee
– take a walk around the swampers’ homestead from Vabalai village
– sing together – because a folk song lives while we sing it!
We are waiting for everyone!
