ADVENT TOWN 2023
Come to the Open Air Museum of Lithuania in Rumšiškės to a special Advent Town, which will take place on the two weekends in December, namely on 9 and 10 December as well as on 16 and 17 December.
MUSEUM OPEN HOURS AND OFF-SEASON PRICES
Dear museum visitors, the museum exhibitions are closed for the winter season and will be reopened to visitors on May 1. The museum remains open as a park - for walks in beautiful nature, surrounded by authentic homesteads.
THE ASSUMPTION DAY AT THE OPEN-AIR MUSEUM OF LITHUANIA
Dress up in your most beautiful clothes, pick the most fragrant wildflowers and together with your relatives and friends come and visit the Assumption day on 15th of August at the Open-Air Museum of Lithuania, dedicated to the year of the Aukštaitija region. We will start at 12:00 p.m. with a holy mass in the church at the museum town, where the harvest and herbs will be consecrated. After the church indulgences, we will head to a fair in the Aukštaitija region with a festive procession.
In search of lost time: memories from Lithuanian manors
Beyond the forests, beyond the rivers, among the ravines and hills, there is an old wooden manor house. Not tall, but long and wide, with a big porch, leaning on white stems, full of lovely corners, cozy and warm, a faithful host to all our joys and sorrows. In front of it, a large sleepy pond with mysterious depths, gilded in the evenings by the moon and the stars, and a garden that is singing, inhaling, dreaming. The garden lovingly holds the pond and the manor house – its faithful companions close to its broad chest, and whispers to both of them some unending tales, some mysterious matters, some long, eternal sorrows. And they listen in turn – silent and thoughtful.
